Sky blue

A colour that we all will already own and feel comfortable in, blue – whether in shades of sky, cobalt, navy or aqua – is a hue easy to pull off and feel feminine in.

With this in mind, here is an example of how to wear it…

MAWI – LFW15

So here comes my last London Fashion Week post! I have written a lot about jewellery at LFW Designer Showrooms however, I wanted to pay special attention to MAWI – one of my go-to statement jewellery brands.

IMG_3298a
Mawi Keivom and Tim Awan founded their brand 2002 at London Fashion Week. Designer Keivom customized one of her necklaces with jewels and vintage touches –
inspiring an entire collection of similar products. Since its launch, the costume jewellery and accessories brand has collaborated with Disney Couture, Swarovski and Selfridges  maintaining the nostalgic yet contemporary style they have come to be known for.

MAWI speaks about their pieces as ‘ornamental meeting places for the past, present and future’. Each piece is both contemporary and vintage-inspired which means these vibrant accessories will continue to be stylish for years to come.
I have been painstakingly collecting their rings and necklaces for years now but my most treasured pieces come from Deco Noir, Metropolis and Rebel Romance collections.

If you feel it is your bling day, go with the Rebel Royal collection and show off that urban glamour. Mix things up with the Emerals Slogan Charm necklace or just add a pinch of glamour with the Rubies earrings, or a cool, in-your-face Ruby bling-tastic ring.

Rings were particularly enticing with their gorgeous gem clusters.
It was great fun trying on new designs! I particularly loved this extended flexible ring which design offers movement to the precious stones and looks just breathtaking!

Check out these unique clutch bags whose fans include Madonna and other celebrities!
How fabulous is this Burgundy DEALER clutch bag made of embossed calf-leather and Swarovski Crystals!

Set either in glossy bordeaux or jet black, showcasing fearless punk rock detail and diamante slogans – THIEF and DEALER. Handbag or clutch? They are certainly not for the faint-hearted!

I loved these lush quilted velvet and furry clutches highlighting golden sun-ray shaped surface detail, with spikes and rock clusters bursting outwards from the core.
Pretty and colorful, these clutches will brighten up any outfit.

Jewels were layered with smaller sections making room for chunky statement tiers creating exceptionally detailed and bold pieces.
In true Mawi style the collection boast a series of individual collections, each with their own influences and aesthetics; from gold bunnies to rebellious city glamour. The playful ‘BUNNY LOVE’  collection presented a cute alternative to Mawi’s signature decadently rocking jewels.

This season Mawi introduced a new addition to their impressive collections – slinky silk and cashmere knitwear, shimmering with glitter slogans shouting ”THIEF’, ‘DEALER’ and ‘SAPPHIRES’.

Jewellery at LFW15

I love jewellery as much as I love clothes, so when I visited the Jewellery Designer Show Rooms during London Fashion Week back in February, it was a feast for the eyes!

KATTRI is a contemporary jewellery brand set up by Amanda Debrasi whose designs aim at creating beauty and richness by mixing simple lines and pure shapes with gems at the focal point.

I adored this multidimensional Triple Dodecahedron Ring made of 18ct gold and black diamond. So eclectic and eye catching!

IMG_3229

One of my favourites was the Qudrant Short Ring made of 9ct Rose gold and rose quartz.

LILY KAMPER is another jewellery designer whose designs are both captivating and very wearable. After graduating from London College of Art, Lily set up her London based brand that reflect her love for colour and unusual material blends embodying modern luxury.

IMG_3309

IMG_3320

Each piece of jewellery is hand-turned on a lathe from blocks of resin and Perspex. The fine jewellery pieces are all set with white, blue and pink sapphires and each season a new exclusive solid stone column is added to the collection.

I just could not get enough of the striking colour combinations! Stunning!

IMG_3314

Lily Kamper‘s Jewellery is stocked globally from Liberty in London, Colette in Paris to the new Harvey Nichols in Azerbaijan. Lily has also been named one of the Professional Jeweller Hot 100 in 2014.

IMG_3193

Collier Pétale. 7 necklace made of sterling sliver and plated in 18ct. Gold stood out from Ptéale Collection.

IMG_3189

I loved this Pétale 2 ring with a feminine floral design from AW15 collection featuring two petals in an architectural positioning.

IMG_3180

IMG_3187

I am a fan of silver so this Square cut double strand bangle in 925 Sterling Silver struck a cord with me.

IMG_3191

Melanie Georgacopoulos is yet another fine jewellery designer who, with her M/G collection continues to explore the endless aesthetic possibilities of the pearl as the epicentre of the modern woman’s accessory. Seemingly vulnerable and feminine yet tough and enduring the pearl’s symbolic contradictions are poised throughout each collection to create contrasts of texture and feel, toughness and volume. Her designs are certainly very wearable and ageless!

RUIFIER is a Fashion led Fine Jewellery founded in London by designer Rachel Shaw. The name is derived from the word ‘Reify’, which means “to make a concrete object from an abstract idea”.

Rachel takes inspiration from her love of graphic shapes, anything from natural world to urban landscapes and her collections epitomise jewellery made for all occasions, combining innovative design with superb craftsmanship, worn individually or layered in the array of ways, RUIFIER represents timeless jewellery designed to be treasured and admired.

IMG_3249

These Icon Fine Drop Earrings also caught my eye! The classic shapes of the Icon ring are here reinvented in the warm hues of rose gold with graduated brown and white diamonds. Elegant and luxurious, the earrings glitter in the light for the ultimate, unassuming glamour.

Touba London – LFW15 Showroom

I have finally recovered from the nasty flu that held me home-bound for the last two weeks (hurray!) so it is about time to have some fun and rave about all those amazing brands I met at London Fashion Week in the Designer Showrooms a few weeks ago!

I wore Mary Kantratzou designs, both dress and the handbag – the outfit details will be shared in my next post, though!
a

IMG_4428

IMG_4434

I had an opportunity to speak with Fode Sylla and Yuko Fujita – founders of Touba London – a PR platform for British and International up-and-coming brands to showcase and promote their creativity and designs in the areas of  fashion, photography and artwork. Their showrooms in London, Paris and Tokyo are a home for striving fashion designers as well as photographic and artwork exhibitions leading to the international market recognition.
There was a number of brands that caught my eye – one of them was Áeron – a Hungarian label set up by Eszter Aron in 2011 whose designs are characterised by sharp lines, focus on fabric quality and innovative craftsmanship. The core of Eszter’s inspiration and designs lies in minimal yet feminine sensuality, keeping that perfect balance between work and play while reinventing traditional tailoring.

I absolutely loved her signature suede Japanese leather designs that ooze class and sophistication. Amongst my favourite pieces were asymmetrical coats, oversized sweaters and minimalistic dresses.
I adored Cyntha & XIAO‘s collaborative AW’15 collection featured at Touba London. I love colour blocking so their amazing dresses and knitwear really captivated my imagination. Both Xiao Xiao & Cyntha Mak are Central Saint Martins‘ offsprings.

Hong Kong-born Cyntha was named by Italian Vogue as a designer to watch out for and included her in their list of “New Talents”.  Having worked with the likes of Roksanda Illinic, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Preen by Thornton, she then returned home to Hong Kong where she is now based.  Her brand, set up in 2014,“is founded on bold graphics infused with strong modernity” and her graphic background shines though in the AW15 collection.

Xiao, who was born in Beijing, initially studied fine art and textiles before combing her artwork with fashion design. After graduating from CSM she moved back to China to launch her own label. Their collaboration incorporates functionality with a edgy masculine present in oversized collars, utilitarian pockets, and striking knot detail.

IMG_4503

Both designers bring the idea of bold basics to her SS15 collection utilising classic 50’s shapes and patterns in a striking manner. Cyntia & XIAO delivered a fresh looking collection where beautiful fabrics and colour are at the very forefront.

IMG_4477

Blackmeans Women – a leather brand lauched in Tokyo in 2008- showcased fabulous leather jackets inspired by Japanese hard-core punk, tribal features, motorcycles style and high fashion. The brands shouts avant-garde, charisma and free style.

I loved Benoit Foucher‘s hat designs. This French designer’s AW15 collection incorporates duality of shapes, unusual lines combined with the unique feel to it – made in France, each hat has a serial number and is shaped on a wooden hat mould.

Le Kilt offers a fresh, contemporary take on the timeless wardrobe classic – the kilt. Set up by Samatha McCoach in 2014, the brand is a homage to her family’s knit making heritage with some added dash of chic, playfulness and modernity.

Rinaree Fashion Show – The London Capital Club

We are at this time of the year again when the Christmas parties are on the cards and we are all looking forward to the December festivities ahead. In this spirit, I headed to the fabulous Rinaree launch and fashion show organised by The London Capital Club in the heart of the City the other week.

P1060609

I wore this Bastyan Danae Drape Dress in Ginger hue in a vibrant stretch silk and Alexander Wang Racketeer Sling small calf hair shoulder bag and Sam Edelman Ria black suede ankle boots. I complemented the outfit with rose gold accessories; Fendi Bangle and Michael Kors watch.

Rinaree is a prolific collaboration between Marina Richards and Yana Gafurova, a mother-daughter duo who design stupendous couture evening and wedding gowns with a fresh perspective on fashion and style.

Marina Richards is the designer of the entire Rinaree range, with over 25 years of fashion experience, working with top London designers she makes sure her designs are quintessentially unique, instinctively knowing what the client wants.

Yana Gafurova, who I met personally at the show, is a Central Saint Martins’ offspring, where she majored in jewellery. Striving for perfection, both mother and daughter balance their life experiences and individuality, bringing the best out of the creative trio: couture, art and fashion.

The show wowed with the beauty of uniquely individual designs, fabulous fabrics and understated colour schemes.

My absolute favourite was this interchangeable silver skirt and corset.

The corset itself was made using the traditional 19th century techniques, with French lace, organza and hand-beading and gemstone details, it was absolutely stunning!
Definitely, the winner of the night!

P1060654

I absolutely adored this blue dress, made of three layers of French lace, applied directly to a silk net base stretched on the mannequin. All fabrics used by Rinaree are natural and originate from Italy and France.

What an extraordinary work of art!

I had a chance to chat to other bloggers and designers who celebrated Rinaree’s launch, exchanging ideas and fashion tips!

When cashmere meets wool

“Baby, it is cold outside” is certainly the new London theme tune right now as it got really chilly out here.

I am the last person to welcome the wintry blasts but before I settle comfortably into my cosy shearling coats and knee high boots, there are a couple of less heavy-duty outfits I would like to share.
When it comes to knits, cashmere is the king, this ultra soft fabric is a symbol of opulence and unparalleled comfort.

I have found this lovely Marc by Marc Jacobs cashmere tulle frill neck jumper on one of recent wanders at the local TX Maxx in the City. Trust Marc By Marc Jacobs to inject this wardrobe classic with a fun feminine twist giving the essential plain black sweater a fashion-forward update! Amp it up with the optional tulle collar when the mood takes you!
The collar is button detachable and features semi-sheer polka dot tulle frill embellishment.

It looks equally marvelous with a silk blouse!

Bloggers Love Hub Event – Kanaloa Club – 17th November

Some of you might know that as a VIB, I have been been attending Bloggers Love Hub events every Monday this November. The evenings are organised by Danielle from Bloggers Love at Kanaloa Club in London and here is a short cover of last week’s event…
P1060482
I opted for MARNI silk dressSam Edelman Ria suede ankle boots and accessorised with JAEGER quilted leather handbag.
There was a certain degree of familiarity as I caught up with my fellow bloggers Natasha Kundi, Krissie Rogers and Amy Blaker.

P1060452

As always, I got to meet and chat with a number of brands about their products, designs ranges.
Slendertone is one of these brands I know very well.
I have been using their products for a while and I strongly believe they work well when used on a regular basis.

I had a chance to talk to Slendertone‘s Marketing Manager Charlotte Cordell about their new product called Slendertone Face. It aims at keeping the facial muscles healthy, increasing circulation ad progressively reducing the signs of ageing, restoring youthful shape of your face. I am certainly up for trying!

P1060474

P1060472

Another intriguing brand I met was Pure Gold Collagen. I have heard of them in the past but never actually used the product so as I was chatting to Natasha Anne Kelleher and Tania Verrillo from MINERVA Research Labs that developed the product, it was a perfect opportunity to find out what the collagen drink tastes like! And it is very good, indeed!

P1060478

Pure Gold Collagen is the pioneer liquid beauty supplement within UK, inspired by the leading Japanese technology that nourishes skin from the inside out, targeting the visible signs of ageing associated with collagen loss.

I am a huge fan of all the technological news and novelty products so meeting with Slendertone and Minerva Research Labs was really exciting.

P1060477

I loved Colour Chase Cosmetics – “Make up for the dreamers”. They offer the most amazing array of quality bright coloured lipsticks and eye makeup. I can’t want to try them out!

P1060479

P1060480

Moving onto the fashion and jewellery scene – I must mention Matthew Calvin – London based contemporary jewellery designer.

I love the way every piece is handmade and complemented with the minimalist glass and cork packaging. Very urban and oozing downtown cool.

I particularly liked Screw Top Studs, Lightweight Rings in rose gold and wide point ring in silver. Matthew Calvin is all about clean lines with modern edge, fine materials and underlying femininity. I can imagine his designs would go well with one of my favourite fashion designers – Alexander Wang. I can certainly see some common denominators…

P1060469

P1060471

Another brand I liked was Zuzka Natural Beauty  –  100% natural cosmetics, free from harsh detergents and synthetic ingredients that could be tolerated by sensitive skin. Zuzka, which means Susan in Slovakian, offers a range of products made only from certified organic herbs, plants & flowers so perfect for allergy prone and troubled skin!

P1060456

I also had a chance to chat with a brand that has been on the market for the last 15 years – Hiffas Da Terra that offers organic products made of mushrooms! As unorthodox as it initially sounds, I have tried their organic soaps and they are wonderful! I am yet to try out the anti-ageing serum!

P1060436

This biotechnology company is committed to their green philosophy and created of the first gourmet mycological product range, combining sustainability, ecology and profitability. Definitely worth checking out!

P1060438

P1060437

Ndulge is a brand that offers scented and unscented handmade, organic skincare products including soaps, bath and skin care products to suit any mood, all beautifully packaged. My favourite was the heart shaped Christmas scented hand cream.

P1060446

P1060447

I also met with Sumayah Deria who showcased a range of evening womenswear.

P1060457

P1060460

Bow Boutique also featured some of their colourful designs.

P1060462

P1060461

Shopping for party shoes or evening bangles? Check out Mifani’s perfect party accessories that make any outfit stand out.

And finally, the brilliant fashion show from Koyawo featuring twelve evening outfits from their recent collection.
